Building My Back to School Rainforest Bulletin Board
Normally I use my bulletin board in the hallway to display student work. However, for our Open House I did not want to leave it blank so I came up with a Rainforest bulletin board based upon our room theme that I would add student work to once students were in the classroom the first week.
I started with a sky blue background. I had help putting this up since our boards were raised a bit this year to accommodate some hooks being added below. My board won’t have hooks under it this year, but we raised all of them so the hallway looks consistent.
The tree trunks are made with packing paper that came with a Discount School Supplies order. Great timing!
Adding Dimension with a Sign and a Waterfall
Our class motto is “Walk In Love Daily” so I incorporated WILD into the board with the WILD About PreK sign. The word WILD is made with one of the paper designs that coordinates with all the Rainforest themed items in my room.
I found the ribbon I used for my waterfall at the local Dollar Tree this summer in a beach theme section. I had no idea what I was going to use it for when I bought it.
Adding Student Work
During our first few days students practiced using q-tips to paint a rainforest animal. Once they were dry I trimmed them and stapled them onto the board. Adding the waterfall this year allowed me to give students a couple different choices to paint that I had not used in the past.
